The Slate Drake - Isonychia is a dry fly designed to match the large, dark mayflies commonly known as Isonychia or Slate Drakes. Its darker body and substantial profile make it an excellent choice when these mayflies are hatching or when trout are keyed in on larger adult insects.

It is particularly useful in faster rivers and broken water, where Isonychia activity can produce aggressive rises and a larger dry fly remains easy for fish to locate.
